A reviewer from Santa Ana, CA.
An excellent and informative book.
I didn't want to let my baby cry to go to sleep, and after a year and half of trying to wait for my child to figure it out on his own, I finally got Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Children, and now our son sleeps like we always dreamed he would. We didn't think it was possible for our son because he was so high strung and we worried that he would cry for hours, but none of that happened. This is a child that not only would stay up till 1 or 2 in the morning, but then would wake up several times a night. Please give this book a chance. It makes sense, and Weissbluth explains why it's essential for parents to set a schedule for their babies to sleep. Now our son goes to bed at 8pm and sleeps all night till 7am. The book explains when to put your child to bed, so that there is minimal or no crying involved. Dr. Weissbluth also emphasizes that "crying it out" is not part of going to sleep or learning to fall asleep. If there would have been a lot of crying involved, throwing up, etc. we would not have been able to do it, but we read the book, and watched our son carefully, and it worked. Good luck!
